Your body is speaking to you—it cycles, adapts & serves you.

Learn Body Literacy to embody the rhythm of
your biology, your cycle, your design.

Body Literacy by Monica Hughes
A New Paradigm for Women's Health

This is where reproductive health meets nervous system science. Where fertility awareness becomes at tool of biofeedback. Where the cycle is understood as a vital sign of whole-body health. And where women learn to partner with their physiology. Welcome to a new standard of care—evidence-based, body-led, and guided by the intelligence of your design.

Welcome,

I'm Monica Hughes

Research Scientist | Body Literacy & Reproductive Health Educator
I support women in understanding their cycles, working with their hormones, interpreting their body’s biofeedback, and integrating nervous system science—so they can navigate their health with precision, agency, and rhythm.

In my private practice, I work with women seeking an intelligent, biologically attuned approach to fertility & reproductive health.

Whether you're avoiding pregnancy, preparing to conceive, or simply ready to understand your cycle in depth, I guide you in:

Learning a precise, evidence-based, sympto-thermal fertility awareness method

Interpreting your cycle as a vital sign—not just a fertility marker

Understanding how stress and your nervous system shape your hormonal rhythms and menstrual health

Navigating irregular cycles and hormonal imbalances with a body-informed, research-based lens

Building a personalized framework to support long-term health and Body Literacy

Explore the Blog Series

Each blog series explores a key theme in women’s health—bridging science, cycle literacy, and nervous system insight. Each series offers a deeper dive into the systems shaping women’s health—unpacking the physiology behind your cycle, the patterns beneath your symptoms, and the nervous system states influencing it all.

The Foundation Series

A four-part introduction to Body Literacy, cyclical physiology, and the core frameworks that shape my approach to women’s health. This series lays the groundwork for a new relationship with your body: one built on biological clarity, nervous system literacy, and the daily practice of interpreting your body’s signals. If you’ve ever felt confused by your cycle, disconnected from your energy, or unsure how to support your body without suppressing it—this series was written for you.

The Nervous System Series

A strategic exploration of how stress physiology, hormonal adaptation, and nervous system responsiveness shape the female experience of health. This is an invitation to understand biology as a dynamic, adaptive system—and learning to work with it through the lens of Body Literacy.

Body Literacy starts with becoming fluent in two key pieces of your female biology:

your cycle & your nervous system.

About Section
Isn't it wild that you and I weren't taught how to:

Nurture and support our female biology?

Understand the intelligence of each phase of our menstrual cycle?

Connect with our nervous systems and befriend our feelings and sensations?

Tune into the wisdom of our incredible physiology?

Because of this lack of education, so many women move through life feeling at odds with PMS, their periods, and the uncomfortable sensations brought on by stress.

This disconnect disrupts our capacity, weakens our resilience and compromises our vitality. It interferes with the way our bodies are designed to function.

After spending years at the mercy of hormonal birth control and nervous system dysregulation—chronic stress masquerading as PCOS—I set on a path to restore a deep connection to my body, to understand my cycle, to become fluent in my nervous system, and to tune into the intelligence of my body.

Through that process, I experienced a profound shift in how I relate to my body—and I fell in love with fertility awareness, neuroscience, and somatic embodiment work. And that brought me here: devoted to guiding other women in building a deeper relationship with their own physiology—so they can feel more resourced, fluent and at home in themselves.
